From a single shop in Erbil’s historic Qaysariyah Bazaar in 1976 to a modern factory supplying all of Iraq — the Chalabi story is one of patience, quality and trust.
Chalabi imports the finest and purest varieties of nuts, selected to our own standard — a standard shaped by fifty years of experience in knowing exactly what makes a great nut.
In our Erbil factory we clean, roast and pack every kind of nut to produce a product that is pure, clean and full of flavour.
From there, Chalabi products reach retailers, markets and wholesalers across the Kurdistan Region and throughout Iraq.
Hashim Chalabi, one of Erbil’s prominent figures, opens a small nut shop in the heart of the city’s historic Qaysariyah Bazaar — the first dedicated nut shop in the area.
After nine years of serving customers and learning exactly what they want, the shop grows into a factory producing all kinds of nuts for Erbil’s retailers and wholesalers.
A larger factory with automated machines raises production capacity, introduces new packaged products, and extends distribution to every city in the Kurdistan Region.
The factory upgrades to newer automated lines for greater capacity, and Chalabi’s own retail stores grow from one to three across Erbil.
Distribution expands from the Kurdistan Region to cities throughout Iraq, and Chalabi launches MACAW — its new brand of crunchy coated peanuts.
Fifty years on, Chalabi supplies retailers, markets and wholesalers in all 18 provinces of Iraq from its factory in Erbil’s Kasnazan Industrial Area — still guided by the founder’s simple promise: the finest, purest nuts.
